Addressing homelessness in Los Angeles requires more than temporary solutions, it calls for long-term, sustainable housing strategies that meet people where they are. Expanding affordable housing initiatives is a critical step, but it must be paired with supportive services such as mental health care, job placement, and substance use resources to create lasting stability. Prioritizing efficiency in development, reducing bureaucratic delays, and ensuring accountability in how funds are used can help accelerate real impact. When housing is treated as a foundation rather than a reward, it creates stronger outcomes not just for individuals, but for the entire community.

Non-affordable housing is one of the biggest problems we have in LA, which helps bring about homelessness. We need CA to do something to bring about affordable housing, or else we are going to continue to see more folks (our loved ones, even) leave this state for states with reasonable, affordable housing.
